Ohio is typically divided into 5 regions.
The southwest portion of Ohio offers access to the Ohio riverand all of the watersports activities that come with being nearthe water. The United States Airforce Museum is located inDayton. The major cities that are in southwest Ohio include Cincinnati , Dayton ,and Springfield.
Southeastern Ohio also borders the Ohio river, but is much morerural and is considered part of Appalachia. Some of the citiesin this part of the state are Athens, Marietta, and Portsmouth.
The central part of Ohio is home to Columbus,OH . There are many cultural events that take place in thecapitol of Ohio. Columbus is also home to The Ohio StateUniversity.
Northeast Ohio is home to Toledo and offers access to LakeErie. Port Clinton is also here and is known as the "PortClinton--Walleye Capitol of the World". The city of Fostoriais known for its glass and pottery work.
Northwest Ohio and Cleveland are a tourist mecca. The Rock andRoll Hall of Fame is in Cleveland and once again, Lake Erie is apopular destination. A large Amish community also exists in thispart of the state, and there are several fine amusement parksincluding Six Flags and Cedar Point.
